How About a Cheeseburger in the Face...

I previously posted an article about a man being killed over a cheeseburger. Well, it seems that cheeseburgers just can not stay out of trouble. A man has been charged with battery after showing a cheeseburger in his girlfriend's face. Nice boyfriend huh?

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Vero Beach man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend multiple times with a McDonald's cheeseburger, according to his arrest affidavit.

The woman told the Indian River County Sheriff's Office she was sitting a car in front of the home she shares with Vincent Gonzalez, 22, of the 300 block of 12th Road, Vero Beach. The couple began arguing and Gonzalez would not allow her to leave the car, the affidavit said. The woman threw Gonzalez's drink out of the car, the report said. In response, Gonzalez grabbed the woman's arm and forced the cheeseburger into her face, the report said. Both of them stepped out of the vehicle and Gonzalez smashed the cheeseburger again into the woman's face.

Deputies charged Gonzalez with battery domestic violence. He remained in the Indian River County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $1,000 bail.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there are better ways of solving arguments lol

Gummi Cheeseburgers

Cheeseburgers are not always made with hamburger anymore. You can now eat mini gummi cheeseburgers. For 60 gummi cheeseburgers it will cost 9 dollars or if you only want one it will cost 15 cents. So if you want a quick sugar rush and a cheeseburger; here you go.

How many Cheeseburgers!?

72,000 cheeseburgers. This is the number of cheeseburgers that it would take to power all of the riders in the Tour de France over 21 days and 2,200 miles of bicycling. Here is the proof:

Rachel Mahan, July 25, 2008
Sci-blog

As this year’s Tour de France draws to a close, you might be wondering how many calories it takes to power all of the riders during 21 days and about 2,200 miles of bicycling. The answer: It takes the equivalent of 72,000 cheeseburgers.

To arrive at this number, an exercise physiologist performed the following calculation: Each rider needs about 7,000 to 10,000 calories per day. If an 8-ounce cheeseburger is around 350 calories, that comes to about 20-30 burgers a day for each rider. Multiply that by the total number of riders and the number of days they are riding and you get about 72,000 cheeseburgers (give or take a little for riders who drop out and for a mixture of very strenuous days and—well, all days seem pretty strenuous to most of us cheeseburger-eaters).

Conrad Earnest, an exercise physiologist at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA, did the cheeseburger calculation last year based on other researchers’ data. He wanted to better illustrate just how great the riders’ energy demands are.

The cyclists require so many calories because the energy they expend during the race, which takes them over the Alps and the Pyrenees this year, is as much as it would take to run 21 marathons in a row, if not more, says Earnest.

In reality, the riders probably aren’t eating cheeseburgers to get all of their energy. Unlike in early Tours, when cyclists had to find their own food and drink along the way, chefs and nutritionists now cater to their needs.

As a cyclist himself, Earnest says a cheeseburger is his favorite meal replacement. “The last thing I want to see when I get off a bike is a PowerBar.”

Mad Cow Disease

Mad cow disease is an incurable, fatal brain disease that affects cattle and possibly some other animals, such as goats and sheep. The medical name for mad cow disease is bovine spongiform encephalopathy (pronounced: bo-vine spun-jih-form en-seh-fah-la-puh-thee), or BSE for short. It's called mad cow disease because it affects a cow's nervous system, causing a cow to act strangely and lose control of its ability to do normal things, such as walk.

Only certain animals can get BSE — people don't actually get mad cow disease. However, experts have found a link between BSE and a rare brain condition that affects people, called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). Researchers believe that people who eat beef from cows that have BSE are at risk of developing a form of CJD.

CJD is caused by an abnormal type of protein in the brain called a prion. When people have CJD, cells in the brain die until the brain eventually has a "sponge-like" appearance. During this time, people with the disease gradually lose control of their mental and physical capabilities.

To date, very few people have been diagnosed with the form of CJD that's been linked to mad cow disease. By November 2006, only 200 cases of this rare condition had been reported worldwide. Of these, most were identified in Britain. Several of the people diagnosed with the disease outside Britain — including two cases in the United States — had a history of exposure in Britain or in a country where government officials reported BSE. Experts believe that the people got CJD after eating beef products from cows that had BSE.

Cheeseburger in Paradise

Not only are cheeseburgers found in restaurants and backyard barbecues, but they can be found in a 1978 song by Jimmy Buffet known as Cheeseburger in Paradise:

CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE (1978)
Jimmy Buffett

Tried to amend my carnivorous habits.
Made it nearly seventy days,
Losin' weight without speed-eatin' sunflower seeds,
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays.

But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat.
Not zucchini, fettucini, bulgar wheat,
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat.

Cheeseburger is paradise.
Heaven on earth with an onion slice.
Not too particular, not too precise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

Verse 2:
Heard about the old time sailor men,
They eat the same thing again and again;
Warm beer and bread they said could raise the dead.
Well, it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn.

But times have changed for sailors these days.
When I'm in port I get what I need;
Not just Havanas or bananas or daiquiris,
But that American creation on which I feed!

Cheeseburger is paradise, medium rare with munster be nice
Heaven on earth with an onion slice.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good god Almighty which way do I steer

For my cheeseburger in paradise
Makin' the best of every virtue and vice.
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise;
To be a cheeseburger in paradise.
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good god Almighty which way do I steer
